Privacy Policy – Aigaku

Thank you for using Aigaku ("the App"), a Japanese hiragana and katakana learning app by Comdroid Studio. This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you use the App and how it is handled. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

You can use the entire App without an account. If you choose to sign in, your learning progress is also saved to your account so you can continue on another device. Signing in is optional and unlocks no extra features.

a. Learning data on your device

Whether or not you sign in, your learning data is stored on your phone:

• Quiz results and per-character accuracy (used to find your weak characters)
• Review schedule for each character
• XP, level, rank and daily streak
• Favourite characters, chosen language, and reminder settings

Uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage in your device settings, permanently deletes the copy on your device.

b. Account (optional, Google Sign-In)

If you sign in with Google, we receive from Google and store:

• Your name, email address and profile picture
• A user ID that identifies your account

This is used only to recognise your account and attach your progress to it. We never post anything to your Google account, and we do not read your contacts, calendar, Drive or Gmail.

c. Progress saved to your account

While signed in, the learning data listed in (a) is also stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your user ID, so it can be restored on another device. When your device and your account hold different progress, the two are merged and the furthest progress is kept — we never silently discard progress.

d. Usage and diagnostics

• Firebase Analytics — which screens are opened and which features are used, plus device model, operating system version, and approximate region. Used to understand which parts of the App help people learn.
• Firebase Crashlytics — if the App crashes: the error and stack trace, device model, operating system version, and app version. Used only to fix the crash.

Both are collected under a pseudonymous identifier. If you are signed in, your user ID is attached to crash reports so we can investigate a problem you report to us.

e. Advertising (Google AdMob)

We use Google AdMob to show banner, interstitial and rewarded ads. AdMob may collect:

• Advertising ID
• IP address
• App usage data related to ad delivery

This data may be used to serve personalised ads based on your interests. It is collected by Google, not by us, and we never receive it in a form that identifies you. For more information, visit:

f. Subscriptions (Google Play Billing)

Aigaku offers an optional Premium subscription. All purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment card, bank or billing details. From Google we only receive whether your subscription is active, which we use to unlock Premium features. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play. How your purchase data is handled is governed by Google Play's own terms and privacy policy.

g. Text-to-Speech

When you tap to hear a character or example word, the App may pass that Japanese text to the text-to-speech engine already installed on your device. Handling of that text is governed by your device or its text-to-speech provider, not by us. No recording of any kind is made.

h. What we do NOT collect

Aigaku never asks for and never receives your contacts, precise location, calendar, files, camera, microphone or photos. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your learning progress or account details to target advertising.

2. How Information Is Used

• To track your progress and decide which characters to quiz you on
• To restore your progress when you sign in on another device
• To send the daily practice reminder you opted into — scheduled on your device
• To understand which features are used, and to diagnose crashes
• To serve ads, which keep the App free (handled by Google AdMob)
• To unlock Premium features when you have an active subscription (status from Google Play)

We do not sell, rent or share user data with third parties, other than the ad data handled by Google as described above.

3. Children's Privacy

Aigaku is not directed to children under 13. Its target audience is teenagers and adults learning Japanese, and it displays advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal data through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.

4. Data Security & Retention

On your device, learning data lives in the App's private storage. If you sign in, your account details and progress are stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore), encrypted in transit and at rest, in a database that only your own signed-in account can read or write.

Progress saved to your account is kept until you delete it (see section 5) or until you ask us to delete your account. Crash and usage records are retained by Firebase according to Google's defaults, and are not used to identify you personally.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

• Use the App without signing in — an account is entirely optional
• Sign out at any time in the Profile tab; signing out leaves the progress on your device intact
• Delete your learning progress with Profile → Reset progress. This erases it both on your device and in your account, and cannot be undone
• Delete your account and everything attached to it by emailing us at the address in section 8 from the address you signed in with. We action such requests within 30 days
• Reset the ad identifier, or limit ad tracking, in your device settings
• Opt out of personalised ads via your Google Ads settings
• Turn off the daily reminder at any time in the App's Profile tab

6. Third-Party Links

The App links to our Instagram, YouTube and Facebook pages, and to other Comdroid Studio apps on Google Play. Once you open those links you are on a third-party service governed by its own privacy policy.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this address, with the effective date shown at the top. Please check periodically for updates.
